From the Byrd School Office


If your child is going to be absent or late, please call the attendance line at 201-445-7700, press 1 and then press 4 to leave a message. You must call each day your child is out, even if it is consecutive days of absence. The Nurse’s office will call should we not have a call in the attendance mailbox. Should you know in advance of an absence, and e-mail or written note to the office is fine. If your child needs to leave early for some reason, advance notice would be appreciated, even if you call on your way over to the school.

Please e-mail any lunch items to Kim Springer at springerk@glenrocknj.org. Kim is the lunch coordinator and can also answer any questions about lunch/milk orders. Mrs. Springer’s direct extension is 6152. Accordingly, if you plan to take your child out for lunch and have not made prior arrangements, we ask that you notify the office as early as possible in the morning. This will avoid any confusion at lunch time with lunch attendance and the whereabouts of your child.

Since we have gone paperless for H.S.A. flyers, it would be wise to check the H.S.A. website for updates and flyers to print at home. The web address is www.byrdhsa.com.

Should your child need an item from home (lunches, homework, musical instruments, etc.,) you may bring it in and leave it on the table outside the office. The children have been instructed to check often for anything that they are expecting and we do our best to make sure that they are aware that there is something for them to be picked up.

The pick up/drop off area in front of the school is just for pick up and drop off only. Please do not park there, even if for a short time. We also ask that you please be considerate of our surrounding residents and be careful that you do not park too close or block their driveways.

Our purple Lost and Found bins are located in the lower level by the Art/Music Room. We ask that you check periodically for any missing items. All items left in the bins at the end of the school year will be donated to a local charity.
