Glen Rock Community School Announces Extended Summer Camp Program

Glen Rock Community School's Summer Camp catalog is now available and registration for all programs begins immediately. Due to the extended summer recess for Glen Rock schools, our summer season begins early this year with many programs starting on June 21. The list of summer camps includes many popular favorites with the addition of some new activities for children.

The schedule for day camps, including Busy Bee and Junior Busy Bee, has been extended to 10 weeks this summer – June 21 to Aug. 27. Campers in this popular day camp enjoy sports, arts and crafts, and games. Children are bused daily to the Glen Rock Pool for swim instruction and water play, except for “trip days” when weekly excursions are planned.

Play Camp for children ages 3 and 4 will begin June 21 and run for six weeks. This program for our youngest campers provides a great first exposure to camp experience and includes a balance of indoor and outdoor play, games, arts and crafts and music.

Rocky Ridge Sports Camp returns again this year, under the direction of Glen Rock High School head football coach Jim Kurz. Campers are introduced to a variety of sports and recreation activities with a balance of cooperative and individual skill development. Camp runs June 21-25 and June 28-July 2.

Studio Stars drama camp will celebrate its twenty-third season this year, providing aspiring actors with a chance to shine in the spotlight from June 28 to July 16. The experience emphasizes stage presence and direction, scene and character development, delivery of dialogue, and culminates in a final on-stage evening performance.

Golf camp is back for the second year with an additional fourth week added, and Claudine Ranieri’s popular Let’s Dance Workshop for elementary children will run the week of Aug. 9.

Math-Science Camp returns for its fifteenth year of providing stimulating and engaging activities for children in a fun learning environment, with Book Club again offered in the afternoon to round out the camper’s day. Math Enrichment and Study Skills are also part of the “Brain Games” available through GRCS.

A new six-week summer Boot Camp is being offered for boys and girls entering grades 2 to 5, and includes running, overall body strength and ball handling skills. Fitness trainer and physical education teacher Elizabeth Carr of Hawthorne will run both camps three days a week from June 29 to Aug. 5.
