Regarding the H1N1 Influenza A Advisory

June 1, 2009

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Glen Rock Public Schools, in coordination with the New Jersey Department of Education, the Bergen County Board of Health and Glen Rock schools' Medical Director Douglas Fenkart, MD, is following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for recognizing and reporting possible cases of Swine Influenza. At the present time there is no documented case of Swine Flu (H1N1) in the Glen Rock School District. However, we have received reports of students experiencing flu-like symptoms. If your child exhibits flu symptoms, please consult your physician. As far as we know, the Swine Flu spreads in the same manner as a seasonal flu. Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing by infected people.

The Glen Rock school staff will be reminding students of the everyday actions we can all take to stay healthy. As a precautionary measure, our custodians are increasing their efforts to sanitize the buildings.

Please by assured that we will continue to monitor the situation and stay abreast of information form the DOE and the CDC and will update this Web site as necessary.
